I’ve seen the underbelly of a charging bull, found stories of redemption inside a state prison and have traversed the Bakken oil fields of North Dakota. During my 10 years as a photojournalist and multimedia producer, I’ve worked on thousands of stories. It has been an amazing privilege and life shaping experience. No matter the medium, the road to engagement is paved with details and moments that people can relate to.

As an alumni of the Associated Press Diverse Visions program and Eddie Adams Workshop, I’ve been fortunate to study under some of the highest regarded photographers and editors in the world. My work has been published by The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, London Times, The Huffington Post, Time and others. I’ve been honored for my work by the National Press Photographers Association, Society of Professional Journalists and Associated Press.

Recently, I’ve transitioned from staff photographer to freelancer expatriate; living in a small two-island nation in the West Indies. The change in climate, the freshness of a new culture and beauty of my surroundings are inspiring. The opportunity to discover, construct and produce stories has never been more exciting to me.

I’m available for photo, video and production assignments in the region and worldwide. Please email any inquiries to zachkaufman@gmail.com
