I am a visual storyteller, educator and media professional living in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Before moving to the midwest, I lived in St. Kitts, a small island in the eastern Caribbean. During my four years abroad, I completed work on a personal project. The photographic essay, Two Island Nation, is an intimate look at a developing nation 35 years after gaining independence.
Previously I spent 10 years as a staff photographer for several newspapers on the West Coast of the United States.
My work has been published by The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, London Times, The Huffington Post, Time and others. I’ve been honored for my work by the Associated Press, National Press Photographers Association, Society of Professional Journalists and William Randolph Hearst Foundation. I’m an alumni of the Associated Press Diverse Visions program, Eddie Adams and Mountain Workshops, and have studied under some of the highest regarded photographers and editors in the world.
In 2022 I graduated with an MFA in photography from Indiana University Bloomington. My thesis examines communities along the Wabash River in Indiana, and focuses on themes that include generational inheritance, class, masculinity and the construction of the American identity.
